Where are you from ?, Viver em duplex, Mono-Lisboa, Lisbon, 2023.
Series of 6 unique photograms.
Exhibited at Mono-Lisboa, Lisbon, in 2023.
Photograms taken directly from the legendary River Tagus, or in the ocean off the coast of Lisbon. These images are commemorative objects of a unique movement of water at a specific place and time. Each image carries within it the aquatic life of the river or sea, but also the industrial activity of humans discharged directly into these waters. The Tagus is the longest river on the Iberian Peninsula. After a long journey of more than 1,000 kilometres through Spain and Portugal, it flows into the Lisbon estuary. It carries as many kilometres in its waters as it does memories.
Having lived in Lisbon, far from my roots for two months, I wondered what connected human beings despite the distance. Water, essential to all life on earth, a fundamental navigation system since ancient times, and according to some scientific research conducted in the 2000s, an element capable of recording and storing information in its molecular structure.
To carry out this work, I created anti-UV pockets in which I placed the photosensitive sheets to transport them from the darkroom to the photogram creation site.
